Privacy Policy

genQRC takes your privacy seriously. This page explains what data we collect, what we do not collect, and how the site processes information. The short version: your QR code data never leaves your browser, and we collect only anonymous traffic statistics.

Client-Side Processing

All QR code generation happens entirely in your browser. When you enter a URL, WiFi password, vCard contact, email address, phone number, location coordinates, calendar event, or plain text into any genQRC generator, that data is processed by JavaScript running locally on your device. It is never transmitted to any genQRC server, never stored in any database, and never logged in any way. The QR code image is rendered on an HTML5 Canvas element in your browser and downloaded directly to your device when you click the download button.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit: the content of your QR codes (URLs, passwords, contacts, messages, phone numbers, locations, or any other data you enter), the QR code images you generate, personal information like your name, email, or phone number, payment information (there is nothing to pay for), login credentials (there are no accounts). We have no user database, no CRM, no email list, and no data warehouse.

Analytics

genQRC uses Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous, aggregate traffic statistics. This includes: pages visited, approximate geographic region (country/city level, not precise location), device type and browser, referral source, and session duration. This data helps us understand which tools are most popular and where visitors come from. Google Analytics uses cookies and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising

genQRC displays advertisements through Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your browsing history. This is managed entirely by Google and is subject to Google's Advertising Policies. You can control ad personalization through your Google Ads Settings.

External Resources

The site loads the following external resources: Google Fonts (Space Grotesk and IBM Plex Mono typefaces), the QRious JavaScript library from jsDelivr CDN, Google Analytics tracking script, and Google AdSense advertising script. Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle connection data.

Cookies

genQRC itself does not set any cookies. Google Analytics and Google AdSense may set cookies as described in their respective privacy policies. No first-party cookies are used for tracking, authentication, or any other purpose.

Data Retention

Since genQRC does not collect user data beyond anonymous analytics, there is nothing to retain or delete. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google standard retention settings. If you want to clear any cookies set by third-party scripts, use your browser cookie management tools.

Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes in the tools or third-party services used. Any significant changes will be noted on this page with the updated date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does genQRC store the QR codes I create?

No. QR codes are generated entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. The images exist only in your browser memory and on your device after you download them. Nothing is transmitted to or stored on genQRC servers.

Can genQRC see my WiFi password when I generate a WiFi QR code?

No. Your WiFi password is processed by JavaScript running in your browser. It is encoded into the QR pattern locally and never sent over the network. You can verify this by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads: the generator continues to work because it requires no server communication.

What analytics data does genQRC collect?

Only anonymous aggregate traffic data through Google Analytics 4: page views, approximate geographic region, device type, browser, referral source, and session duration. No personally identifiable information is collected.

How can I opt out of analytics tracking?

Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available for all major browsers. Alternatively, use a browser extension that blocks tracking scripts, or enable your browser built-in tracking protection features.

Does genQRC sell data to third parties?

No. genQRC does not collect personal data, so there is nothing to sell. The only third-party services involved are Google Analytics (for anonymous traffic statistics) and Google AdSense (for advertising), both of which operate under their own privacy policies.
